BACKGROUNDS OF SAN DIEGO FIRE VICTIMS LAWYERS

Singleton & Associates, Tosdal Smith Steiner & Wax, and Mitchell S. Wagner are separate law firms affiliated only for purposes of pursuing recovery for the victims of the October wildfires. They each have experience and skill uniquely qualifying them to represent fire victims, especially by combining their talents and resources.

Singleton & Associates and Terry Singleton, who graduated from the UCLA School of Law in 1973, have experience in electrical cases, including against SDG&E. They obtained recoveries against SDG&E for 57 people who lost homes and property in the 1993 Guejito Fire. They also obtained compensation from SDG&E for the family of a helicopter pilot who was killed when he flew into unmarked SDG&E power lines. As a result of this second case, SDG&E began placing large, bright plastic balls on power lines (see below photograph), as a warning to pilots, which is what other utility companies already did elsewhere in California. Terry Singleton is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Tosdal, Smith, Steiner, and Wax, and Thomas L. Tosdal, who graduated from Harvard Law School in 1975, have experience in "mass tort" cases—those involving large numbers of people who have been harmed. As a result, Tosdal, Smith, Steiner, and Wax have the organizational experience to handle cases on behalf of large groups. Mr. Tosdal has been listed for many years in Best Lawyers of America and is also listed in Super Lawyers.

Mitch Wagner graduated from the University of San Diego, School of Law in 1983. He has handled electrical and propane cases.

Michael Feinberg:
Michael Feinberg graduated from USC and with honors from Loyola University School of Law in Los Angeles in 1978 where he received the Oxford University Merit Scholarship in International Law and represented the State of California as a delegate to the Oxford University International Legal Studies Program in Oxford, England. He has handled mass tort and arson cases.

Gerald Singleton:
A 2000 graduate from the University of California School of Law, Boalt Hall, Gerald Singleton has experience in trial in the State and federal courts.
